“My interest in Technology is the reason I joined Exelegent”
Scott Depugh – Director of Business Development
01. What do you do at Exelegent? What is your typical day like?
My role with Exelegent as the Director of Sales and Business Development revolves around collaborating with Microsoft to create opportunities and participate in co-selling initiatives, showcasing a proactive approach to enhance our strategic partnerships.
Additionally, I assist current customers by generating statements of work upon request and informing them about additional services that could benefit them during contract renewals. My respectful yet playful temperament plays a role in making these interactions smoother as I treat all customers equally no matter the size of the organization. I pride myself as a true team player, always ready to take on additional responsibilities and collaborate seamlessly with various teams. I always want to see how I can help assist in other tasks outside my role if needed to help drive a solution 😊.
02. What was the main factor that influenced you to join Exelegent?
My interest in Technology is the reason I joined Exelegent coupled with my background in Sales, I thought it would be a great fit to join a team working in sales and learning the ins and outs of IT. I Believe it’s a smart step into an ever–evolving industry.
After leaving the Military I worked at a pharmaceutical company as a maintenance planner for years until deciding to go back to school once my first child was born. I was able to get my degree while helping to raise my child. I now have 3 beautiful daughters who all like to prank and fight me (literally). I love spending my time with them doing anything from playing in our pool, playing video games, showing them how to garden, rollerblading/biking in our neighborhood, and building things. They are my entire life and I do anything to support them and show them that they can do anything. Having said all that, I love working with Exelegent because it allows me to have a great work-life balance.
03. What challenges you in your role? What do you enjoy the most about it?
Most of the challenges in my role include adapting to changing market conditions and managing objections effectively. However, building relationships and solving client needs is what I enjoy most.
04. How would you describe the culture in Exelegent in three words?
Fast, ambitious, innovative
05. What would you advise someone seeking a similar career to yours? Any tips you’d give to your past self?
Embrace rejection as a learning opportunity, hone your communication skills, and prioritize understanding the customer’s needs. For the past self, very similar, rejection is just a stepping stone. Stay persistent, focus on relationships, and always keep learning from both successes and failures
